Today's City of Vaughan, known as “The City Above Toronto,” brought the towns of Woodbridge, Concord, Maple, and Kleinburg together. The landscape of rolling hills, farmland and historic settlements has changed significantly over the past 30 years into new home developments and an influx of businesses. Families are flocking to Vaughan, and here are just some of the reasons why so many people want a home in the fastest growing city in Canada:

Family Fun

Canada's Wonderland, located in Maple, is the country's top amusement park, and has welcomed millions of visitors since it first opened in 1981. Reptilia is a state-of-the-art facility that showcases hundreds of reptiles and amphibians, and gives you a chance to interact with some of the critters. An annual tradition is the Woodbridge Fair. A staple in the area since 1847, this year promises stunt shows, fun food vendors, a giant pumpkin contest, the excitement of the midway, and more. A new addition to the area is the Legoland Discovery Centre, where you can enjoy their factory tour, 4D cinema, laser ride, and unbelievable creations made from the small plastic bricks.

Get Outdoors

It wasn't so long ago that Vaughan was farmland, woods and wide open spaces, and it's no surprise that parks, conservation areas, golf courses and other outdoor areas are still some of the area's most celebrated features. The city maintains more than 1000 hectares of parks and open spaces, plus hundreds of sports fields and playgrounds. The Kortright Centre for Conservation offers Canada's best renewable energy education and demonstration programs and events, set within a picture-perfect area of pristine woodlands. Boyd Conservation Area is a great spot for hiking, picnics, and large gatherings of family and friends. If you have an urge to hit the green, visit Copper Creek in Kleinburg, one of Ontario's finest championship golf courses.

Arts, Culture and History

The City of Vaughan has a rich history, and you can step back in time by visiting one of four designated heritage conservation districts: Thornhill, Kleinburg-Nashville, Woodbridge, and Maple. While in Kleinburg, stop by The McMichael Canadian Art Collection, which houses over 6000 thousand artworks by Canadian artists, including the Group of Seven. Speaking of arts and culture, the City Playhouse Theatre offers entertainment and educational programming for the entire family. Each September, Culture Days is a two day event that celebrates Vaughan's diverse and talented cultural groups, artists, organizations and performers with free, hands-on activities for adults and children alike.

Shopping, Entertainment and Dining

Located right off the 400 highway, Vaughan Mills is a prime shopping destination featuring outlet locations for major retailers, unique concept shops like Bass Pro, entertainment, dining and more. Market Lane in Downtown Woodbridge is a charming location with shops, services and restaurants that has been in a staple in the area for three decades. Head over to Interchange Plaza for shopping at Ikea, letting loose with arcade fun at Dave and Busters, and laughing it up at Yuk Yuks Comedy Club. For a lively meal with the family, Zafferano offers authentic Italian cuisine made with the finest ingredients. If you crave an elegant evening out, Vinsanto has an extensive list of wines, a creative twist on rustic Italian food, and live smooth jazz. If you love locally grown produce and artisanal foods, check out the Woodbridge Village Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings from June through October.

Spotlight on Homes Sold in Vaughan

Here are two of the magnificent homes in Vaughan that I've recently sold.

60 Campania Court, Woodbridge

This beautiful detached home on a private cul-de-sac in a prime Woodbridge location sold in less than 24 hours! It featured 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms over 2440 square feet, a large family-sized kitchen, main floor laundry, and professional landscaping.

41 Treasure Hill Road, Maple

This was not your typical semi at over 2000 square feet, which made it a highly desirable property.

It included an open concept main floor, large eat-in kitchen, an oak and iron staircase, and three large bedrooms including a master retreat.
