The city of Vaughan is growing like no other and being here this summer is going to be much more fun than heading to cottage country as there are a ton of fun and family-friendly events.
Concerts in the Park – June to August
A weekly event, occurring every Wednesday evening starting at 7:30, Concerts in the Park is a series of free concerts held at Vaughan City Hall. From June to August, head down to the park with a blanket or chairs and a snack (or get some there) and enjoy professional musicians performing their best music.
Canada Day – July 1st
Celebrate Canada Day in style at Mackenzie Glen District Park this July 1st. Musician Shawn Desman will be the highlight of the day as he performs his biggest hits! As well, this free event will also have a Kidz Zone, food zone and a bunch of other free activities. Park at Vaughan City Hall and take the free shuttle over to the park.
If you want to see one of the best fireworks displays, head to Canada’s Wonderland for their annual Canada Day fireworks. The show starts at 10pm and regular Wonderland admission will apply.
Cosmo MusicFest & Expo – June 4th
Head down to the Cosmo Music store in Richmond Hill for their annual CosmoFest event, which is now in its 31st year. Not just a huge sale, it is also a musical instrument and gear exhibition and music celebration. The entire family will love the live music, food, drink and family-friendly activities. Last year I Mother Earth headlined and 7,500 guests showed up. This year promises to be even bigger, with Big Wreck and Yukon Blonde as the headliners and quite a few more performers taking the stage as well, from all genres of music. There will be artist clinics, meet n’ greets and giveaways. Harley Davidson is offering a really cool Jumpstart Rider experience too.
Woodbridge Ribfest- August 5th to 7th
With amazing food, music, rides, games and vendors, Woodbridge Ribfest is an event not to be missed. Located at the Woodbridge Fairgrounds, head down to catch performances by local performers all weekend, while you chow down on ribs and sides. Let the kids enjoy the midway!
CariVaughan Caribbean Festival – August 26th to 28th
You don’t have to go into the city to celebrate a Caribbean festival. This 3-day festival celebrates the Caribbean culture in the City of Vaughan, showcasing artists with tropical talent and is located at the Woodbridge Fairgrounds. Your $20 admission ticket also includes some Caribbean food!
